in Light of Anthroposophy

Rudolf Steiner gave us six basic exercises, verses and meditations,
a version of the eight-fold path, The Foundation Stone, and so much more. Four
different instructors, all long-time students of Anthroposophy, will bring their
knowledge and experience to bear in these experiential workshops exploring meditation

WEFT
Faculty Mary Ruud has
taught eurythmy for over 25 years and teaches for GLTT, the Lifeways early childhood
training, and the Waldorf program at Bellarmine University, Louisville, KY. Mary
has a Masters in Liberal Studies with an emphasis on ecology and earth healing. Sherris
Corby took a class from first through eighth grade at Prairie Hill Waldorf
School. She earned her BA from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and her Waldorf
Teaching Certificate from Sunbridge College, Spring Valley, NY. Robert
Karp has been a student of anthroposophy for more than 25 years and has been
active as a teacher and leader in the Anthroposophical Society for many years
at both the local and regional levels. Robert has a Masters degree in education
and works as Executive Director of the Biodynamic Farming and Gardening Association
as well as an organizational development consultant and social entrepreneur in
the fields of sustainable agriculture and education. Sandra
Martin has worked with Anthroposophy for 20 years and has been an educator
for over 30. In all her endeavors, she strives to keep balance and economy in
teaching the whole child at the center of each initiative. Professionally, she
is studying to obtain her Director of Instruction Licensure, and has a Masters
Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. Sandra has worked as a public and Waldorf
school teacher. In addition, she served as faculty chairperson in a Waldorf school,
college professor, and problem solving facilitator. Currently, she works as a
school improvement supervisor. |
Working
with Color: Waldorf Watercolor Painting for Everyone Through
these painting workshops, you will experience the mood, practice the methods,
and enjoy the beauty of the Waldorf approach to watercolor painting. Barbara Therese
Prendergast, Instructor. The
watercolor painting series will be held at Tamarack Waldorf School, 1150 E. Brady
St., Milwaukee. Three Saturdays,
October 3, 10 & 17, 9:30-11:30 a.m., $25 each or $65 for all three |
WEFT
Faculty Barbara Prendergast
trained as a Waldorf class teacher at Emerson College in England. She spent three
years training to be an art teacher for Waldorf schools at the Tobias School of
Art, also in England. Barbara has a Master's degree in Waldorf Education from
Rudolf Steiner College and a Master's degree in education from Mount Mary College.
She has been a Waldorf teacher for 16 years in a private, rural Waldorf school
in Scotland and in a public central-city Waldorf school in Milwaukee. Barbara
has taught painting at various Waldorf teacher trainings, in Estonia, UW-Milwaukee,
the Great Lakes Teacher Training, and the International Camphill Teachers Conference.
She is presently working on her Ph.D. in Urban Education at UW-Milwaukee. |
Turning
Inward: Deepening Our Experience of the Autumn Mood through Eurythmy and Watercolor
Painting The gold of the summer sun now shines through
the leaves. How does that relate to our own inner experience during this time
of year? Instructors Mary Ruud and Sherrod Milewski will lead participants through
movement to verse and sensitive work with color to perceive the beauty and significance
of this season. Saturday, October

River Keepers. In conjunction with Milwaukee Community Service Corps, she has
had pieces displayed at the Urban Ecology Center, Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage
District, City Hall and Milwaukee Public Market. |
Working
with Rhythm-The Heartbeat of Family Life (Co-Sponsored
with LifeWays North America)
Early
childhood educators and authors Helle Heckman and Anne-Marie Fryer Wiboltt will
each share their wisdom, offer practical suggestions, and show you how to use
rhythm to enhance your family's relationships, health and celebrations. Helle,
author of Childhood's Garden; Shaping Everyday Life Around the Needs of Young
Children, has created Nokken, a true garden for young children in Copenhagen.
Anne-Marie, author of Cooking for the Love of the World, will bring insights
and practices that can raise meal times and seasonal celebrations into opportunities
to connect deeply with nature, the seasons, and one another. Event will include
keynotes, experiential workshops and lunch. Saturday,
November 7, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at Quaker Friends Meeting House, $50 if registered by
Oct. 15; $60 after. |
WEFT
Faculty Anne-Marie
Fryer Wiboltt is a Waldorf class and kindergarten teacher, biodynamic farmer,
author and nutritional counselor. She has taught nutritional cooking and counseled
for 25 years in her homeland Denmark, Europe and the United States. She trained
as a macrobiotic cooking teacher and counselor and studied the principles of oriental
medicine and the research of Dr. Weston A. Price before embracing the anthroposophical
approach to nutrition, food and cooking. Anne-Marie co-authored with her husband
a series of ten books on health and nutrition and is the author of Cooking
for the Love of the World, Awakening Our Spirituality through Cooking. She
is currently working on another book, Cooking for and with Children, Preparing
for the Life of the Future. Helle
Heckman, author of Childhood's Garden; Shaping Everyday Life Around the
Needs of Young Children, has created Nokken, a true garden for young children
in Copenhagen, Denmark. The children at Nokken spend five hours each day outdoors,
rain or shine, at one with the rhythm of the natural world around them.
