Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Who attends the Great Lakes Teacher Training courses?
A: Anyone interested in studying the Waldorf approach to child development, Waldorf curriculum and pedagogy and arts in the Waldorf curriculum, anyone who is interested in earning a Masters in Education with a Waldorf Emphasis and anyone wishing to earn a Waldorf Teaching Certificate. Our classes may also be taken for teacher enrichment or for anyone interested in learning more about Waldorf Education.

Q: What kind of accreditation will I earn if I attend the course? Can I get undergraduate credit?
A: Participants enrolling through the Mt. Mary College graduate program will receive credits toward a Masters in Education degree. You may also register through Mt. Mary for undergraduate credits that could be transferred to other institutions. Many colleges and universities make it possible for their students to take courses over the summer, which may be applied to their programs. Students may also audit the courses (without credits) in our three-year Waldorf teaching program. Graduates of both programs will earn Waldorf Teaching Certificates. Great Lakes Teacher Training is affiliated with AWSNA (Association of Waldorf Schools of North America) as a new training initiative.

Q: Who are the faculty that are teaching the classes?
A: The Great Lakes Teacher Training faculty is made up of trained, experienced Waldorf teachers coming from a variety of backgrounds to share their areas of expertise. Most of this summer's faculty are teachers in our local Waldorf schools and most of them are long-time Waldorf parents. We also bring in teachers from outside this region to present specific courses throughout the training sequence.

Q: Where are the Great Lakes Teacher Training courses held?
A: The 2005 Summer Intensive program will be held at 1150 East Brady St., Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the site of Tamarack Community School. Other courses may be held at Prairie Hill (in Pewaukee) or at Urban Waldorf (in Milwaukee).

Q: How do I apply for the program?
A: For details, please see the registration information.
